DAUGHTRY... THE BAND
Following his elimination from American Idol 5, Chris Daughtry was inundated with offers to join legitimate rock bands. After turning down said offers, including an offer from band Fuel for a lead singing position and being signed to RCA records, a band was formed and called ‘Daughtry’ after Chris’ surname. Members of Daughtry included or have included; Jeremy Brady, a guitarist (and at this point no longer in the band), Josh Steely, as lead guitarist, Josh Paul, as bassist who also played for Suicidal Tendencies and Joey Barnes, as drummer.

The band released their first self titled album in November 2006 to positive reviews and topped the Billboard album charts for two weeks in it’s peak. The first single from the album ‘It’s Not Over’ was a success, debuted on radio on December 6 2006 and reached #4 in the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The second single from the album ‘Home’ is one of the bands more popular songs and reached #5 on the Hot 100 charts during its peak. It also entered the Hot Christian Singles Chart at #12 and was used as the song whenever a contestant on American Idol 6 was eliminated from the show.

Other singles from the album released were ‘What I Want’, ‘Over You‘, ‘Crashed’ and ‘Feels Like Tonight’. The band’s debut album was a best selling album in 2007 achieving sales of over 3.5+ million. In America it has been certified triple platinum, making Chris one of the only American Idol alum to achieve such an honour.
